Jamie has a lot of work. She has a lot of reading since she is an English major. She has something to read every night, and then she writes a lot of essays. On a scale of 1-10, she is an 8 as in stress level.
UCI uses a quarter system, so in 1 year, they have 3 quarters, as in France at school, not at university.
Each quarter is 10 weeks and then, they have an extra week for finals.
Jamie has 2 jobs : she works at a dance studio as a receptionist and she also works at a clothing store called " Pacsun".
To finance her studies, she gets some help because her school offers financial aid and she gets a huge grant to pay for school.
As for a balance between work and life, she goes to school some days and work other days. She does all her homework after work. She said it's tough, but it's the only way she find to do it.
She is first generation American. Her mother moved to the US when she was 16 years old. At home, her family speaks English and Tagalog, the language spoken in Philippines. Jamie can't speak Tagalog, but she understands it.
As for the diversity, her campus is very diverse, but there are a lot of Asians.
